Meet Dr. A
I am licensed in the states of Oregon and Maine.
Hello! My full name is Mikaela Arredondo and my heritage is Mexican-American. My last name can be difficult to pronounce so please feel free to call me Dr. A. I am proud to bring culture to the medical field and I love to work with people of all genders, cultures, and backgrounds. I often find that these foundational roots are important factors in the healing process and exploring them with compassion in a safe space can be extremely therapeutic.
I am a board certified Naturopathic Doctor and I graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM), the oldest accredited naturopathic medical university in North America and one of the most respected in the world. In addition to my doctorate degree, I spent three years studying integrative mental health with techniques focusing on the mind-body connection and I love to incorporate those techniques into my practice.
Symptoms and disease are our body’s way of telling us there is an imbalance. The conventional model of medicine often uses pharmaceutical medication and invasive procedures to manage symptoms, but I believe there is more to offer someone that is longer lasting and sustainable. My philosophy and approach to medicine is to listen to what the body is saying and provide foundational elements of healing so that you don’t just feel better, you are better. I do this by addressing the root cause of disease, not just masking the symptoms.
Because each person is unique, I tailor my treatment plans to the needs of each individual person using lifestyle coaching, clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, laboratory testing, bodywork/massage, and flower essences. My goal as a practitioner is to aide you in finding optimal balance and wellness in mind, body, and spirit.
I am professionally certified in Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Massage and Integrative Pelvic Therapy. Both modalities use specific techniques to address a wide range of complaints including, but not limited to: back pain, GI dysfunction, heavy or abnormal menses, painful menses, pain with intercourse, prolapse, endometriosis, erectile dysfunction, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and so much more!
I want to help you discover your innate strength and resilience . The body knows how to heal, it just needs the chance to do so by removing the obstacles in its way. Whether through my care or the outside resources I can connect you with, I would be honored to work with you through your healing journey.
I am originally from Bryan, Texas. In my free time I enjoy reading a good sci-fi/fantasy book, hiking through the woods, trail running, playing soccer, cheering on the women's national soccer team, playing board games, and spending time with my family and friends.
