Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic Medicine uses the six principles listed below as our foundation for healing, which means we keep these in mind when treating you. We truly take these to heart! This medicine is unique in its ability to integrate botanical medicine, nutrition, lifestyle coaching, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, supplementation, and pharmaceutical medication in a way that is different for each individual. We take the time to understand the multifaceted person you are because it truly matters to your healing journey. Expect to spend more face-to-face time with your naturopathic physician and to receive a supportive holistic treatment plan.

Naturopathic Doctors (ND) are trained experts in functional holistic medicine.

NDs, like allopathic or osteopathic doctors, hold a four-year undergraduate degree as well as an additional four-year doctorate degree from an accredited AANMC medical school. Naturopathic Doctors are trained in standard medical curriculum as a primary care physician. All ND's must pass multi-step board exams prior to obtaining a license to practice.

Principles of Naturopathic Medicine

The Healing Power of Nature

Our bodies are a part of the natural elements and just like nature, we have the inherent ability to heal. The naturopath's role is to remove any obstacles that are keeping the body from accomplishing that healing.

Treat the Whole Person

As an individual, we are comprised of body, mind, and spirit. Naturopathic medicine respects the complexity of someone by examining each of these aspects when treating.

Identify and Treat the Cause

Symptoms are the body's way of communicating to us. In naturopathic medicine we use this language to treat the cause of these symptoms instead of merely suppressing them.

First Do No Harm

The doctor must be mindful of the consequences and side-effects of any treatment. This means using the least invasive and least disruptive remedy when treating.

Doctor as Teacher

The naturopath's central role is to educate, and therefore, empower patients into taking control of their health. We provide the tools for you to wield.

Prevention

The ultimate goal and focus of naturopathic medicine is the prevention of disease. This means establishing a healthy and sustainable lifestyle to prevent or reduce the severity of illnesses.
